Reaching together... stand firm in your faith, be courageous and strong - 1 Corinthians 16:13

Welcome

Welcome to Sapling Class

“Reaching together to give our Children the roots to Grow and the wings to Fly

Our Pre-school staff promote the Christian values that underpin school life. The values are promoted through discussion, circle time and day-to-day routines. Children are taught to play fairly, through sharing, turn taking and working together and they are taught to look after each other, the toys and the environment. They build relationships with adults and peers based on trust, respect and tolerance.  Our staff work closely with Cherry Class (Reception class) to help our children with transition to primary school.

The Pre-school welcomes all children from the age of 2 to 4 years old. Younger children learn from watching and joining in with older children and the older children develop skills to help others. We have group time where we divide the children into small groups or work 1:1 on their individual needs.

The experienced team of staff is led by  Laurie Backhouse.

The Pre-school provides a programme of activities guided by the EYFS and informed by regular observation and assessment of the children. Information on the EYFS can be found in the documents:

  • " Parents' Guide to the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework". (The document provides information about delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework in nurseries and schools and can be found at www.foundationyears.org.uk)
  • "What to Expect, When?" which can be downloaded from the website www.4children.org.uk

The Pre-school is currently open term-time only. Opening times are 8:30am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday with wrap-around care, 7.55am to 4.30pm, provided for children 3 years and above.
