PE and Sport Premium
In April 2013 the Government announced new funding of £150 million for Physical Education (PE) and school sport.
This funding (Sports Premium) can only be spent on sport and PE provision in schools, however each school has the freedom to determine how best to do this.
The purpose of the funding is to:
Improve the quality and breadth of provision of PE and school sport for Primary-aged pupils, to help pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach performance levels they are capable of
A typical Primary school would receive approximately £9,250 annually in the academic years 2013-14 and 2014-15 calculated using the number of pupils in Years 1-6. In September 2017, the funding is set to double that of previous years.
