Our Reading Ambassadors have been chosen for their love of reading and their enthusiasm to share this with others.
They share this across the school in a number of ways.
Library
Before a new book goes into the library, at least one of our ambassadors will read and review it. They can then help children by recommending the books to others that might enjoy it. This can be a tough job as they only have a short time to read and review the text!
Reading Eggs
Each week, children from Key Stage 2 support Key Stage 1 children with a Reading Eggs during a lunchtime club. They enjoy sharing their love for reading across the school.
Reading Buddies
Our Key Stage 2 ambassadors support reading across school every week; they have a timetable of children to read with regularly. They share their love of reading anything (newspapers, magazines, comics, sports reports) with other children and help them to choose books from the library that they will enjoy.
Special Reading Days
The reading ambassadors take responsibility for organising special events such as "World Book Day" and "Storytelling Week". They promote the events by talking to the classes and creating posters to advertise the events around school.
Monthly Second Hand Book Sale
The reading ambassadors, work alongside School Council to organise monthly book sales. This promotes a love of reading throughout school. The whole school bring a small donation and in return receive a second hand book to share and enjoy at home. This creates a huge sense of excitement each month across the school alongside raising money for Library improvements.
