Justice
At Ivington C.E. Primary School, our Christian vision — “Reaching together with the Fruit of the Spirit” — underpins everything we do. Guided by the values of love, kindness, peace, patience, faithfulness, goodness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23), we seek to nurture children who live with compassion and act with justice.
We believe that justice is rooted in God’s love and is expressed through fairness, respect, inclusion, and the courage to stand up for what is right. Our intent is for every child to understand that justice is not only about equality of treatment but also about ensuring that each person is valued, heard, and supported to flourish as a unique child of God.
Through our curriculum and daily school life, we:
-
Teach about justice by exploring moral choices, rights, and responsibilities in RE, PSHE, History, Geography, and collective worship.
-
Model justice through fair relationships, restorative behaviour practices, and opportunities for pupil voice in school decisions.
-
Live out justice by promoting respect for diversity, inclusion, and care for creation within our local and global community.
-
Encourage pupils to apply their learning by showing empathy, compassion, and advocacy — using their voices to bring about positive change.
By being rooted in Christian values, growing in wisdom and understanding, and bearing fruit through action and service, our pupils learn that true justice reflects God’s kingdom — where everyone is treated with dignity, equality, and love.
For Example:
History - Battle of Britain
- What does justice mean during a war?
- Can a battle ever be fair?
- Is it ever just to take another person’s life to protect your country?
Geography - Volcanoes and Earthquakes
- Is it fair that some people live in places where volcanoes and earthquakes happen?
- Why do some people choose to stay there?
- Should governments help them move?
Space - KS1 Topic
- Is it fair that only some people can go to space?
- Should everyone get a turn to visit space?
- What if it costs a lot of money?
